BeNutriFit (it's all one word, apparently ) can either be used to devise a diet that's right for you from scratch or used in conjunction with one of the popular commercially available diets, such as Atkins or Weight Watchers. The way it works is that you tell it everything you've eaten each day by picking the foods from its large database. This allows BeNutriFit to keep track of exactly what's going into your body, correlate this with your changing weight and body measurements, and then tell you exactly how many calories and which nutrients you need every day if you want to reach your target weight. It also suggests different ways in which you could get those nutrients and helps you plan your diet accordingly with recipe managers and meal planners. Learning how to manage all the various screens and modules is always an issue with dieting software. The more options and features the package offers the harder it is to make it accessible for the non-expert computer user, so it's always a matter of finding the right balance. BeNutriFit deals with this by its "Single Source Screen" format which allows every aspect of a particular function (eg. Meal logging or weight tracking) to be managed from one screen. The works pretty well, although that's partly due to the cleverness of the interface and partly due to the fact that BeNutriFit doesn't have quite as many extra whistles and bells as some of the more expensive packages on the market. However, it could be argued that what it does offer will be quite enough for the casual dieter, and actually quite a lot for the price. This includes a plethora of graphs, breaking down your nutritional intake in great detail and tracking your weight, girth, BMI and so forth. All of these are clearly presented and easy to use. In fact, most users shouldn't have much trouble picking up and using any of BeNutriFit's basic features, and if they do there's a built in help system and tutorial to walk you through it. The food database is also very good: large but still easy to manage, thanks to a surprisingly subtle search function which is easy to customize to your specific needs. It will even remember meals you've logged before so you can just click on them next time you eat the same meal and not have to enter all the details from scratch. The download website is compact and informative, but feels more like an advert rather than a homepage. All the information is squeezed in there in tiny text with no room for pictures, which is a shame. Really, you shouldn't have to squint and lean forward when reading a site like this, you should be able to relax, sit back and take it all in. That aesthetic quibble aside, it does tell you everything you need to know to decide whether to buy the software or not. Handily, you are permitted to install BeNutriFit on as many as three computers and carry your profile around from one to the other, so you can track your diet at work as well as at home. It can also be used by more than one person, which is important as BeNutriFit, more than most rival dieting software packages, is also intended as a tool for parents to keep track of their children's health and nutrition. With childhood obesity a growing problem, this seems like a smart idea. A big plus is that there is a 15 day free trial version, so you can download it right now without paying a penny. This is always a good sign: not only because you be sure that BeNutriFit works for you before you invest in it, but because it signals that the software developer is confident in their product and willing to stake their profit on whether you like it or not. Ironically, the free trial facility is rendered almost irrelevant because the actual purchase price is so darn cheap! This is certainly one of the most affordable packages around. All in all, BeNutriFit offers a good range of basic diet management features at a really low price.
