I have used this software with clients and although some of the information is useful I have a huge issue with the HR calculator. It is the core of any exercise program for weight-loss and IT IS CALCULATING INCORRECTLY! I find it hard to use the software confidently and see my purchase as a waste of money. People who do not know about fitness and who are relying on this software to guide them will be exercising at the INCORRECT HR simply because they don t know it's giving incorrect calculations. I did advise the company about this issue however they have failed to fix the issue, hence this review. To test for yourself search google for "HR calculator" and test a few different sites to see where you should be exercising. Here's an example:
Karvonen Formula
At age: 50, when exercising, your heart rate should be between 137 and 148 beats every seconds.
It should not exceed 170 . (137 and 148 beats is the correct Stamina (aerobic) rate)
Weightmania formula
At age: 50, when exercising, your heart rate should be between 85 and 119 beats every seconds.
It should not exceed 170 . (85 and 119 beats is recovery rate)
Please see the links listed below and test your HR for yourself if your using this software. http://www.digifit.com/heartratezones/training-zones.asp?MaxHR=&Age=50&RHR= or http://www.acefitness.org/acefit/healthy_living_tools_content.aspx?id=7
Other issues are some of the header fields cannot be modified e.g. K joules / Calories or Inch / CM cannot be changed so it not universal. In all honesty I am disappointed with the purchase and I'm waiting for an update so I can actually use the software, If that happens I'll write an updated review.
In summary, I would not recommend Weightmania Pro to a friend.
